The eLearning team provides full support and training. Services cover Canvas and academic technologies in all aspects of course and program development. Faculty can request one-on-one or group/departmental training sessions where an instructional technologist will provide customized assistance. Trainings can take place at the client’s campus location, the eLearning office, or virtually via a web conferencing tool.
For our safety and the safety of our customers, and in accordance with the published UAB Re-Entry Guidelines, the following procedures must be followed for in-person trainings.
- Customers and eLearning staff must wear a facemask at all times, except when recording.
- Only one person will be allowed in the training room, and everyone must practice social distancing.
- Please arrive on time as no waiting area will be available. Please see our

Training
(Virtual training sessions are facilitated using Microsoft Teams Video meeting. We recommend downloading Microsoft Teams before your appointment time.)
NOTE: Not available during first two weeks of semester
(In-Person training sessions are facilitated at the eLearning office. A link with the address and required elevator code will be provided in the confirmation email.)

Examples of Training Offered through UAB eLearning
- Using Zoom video conferencing software for virtual classroom, office hours, and more
- What can Canvas do? (Modules, SpeedGrader, Rubrics, Assignments, Group Activities, etc.)
- Setting up Canvas Gradebook, grading schemes, weighted assignments, and publishing grades
- Using Kaltura Media Space to record, store, and share videos in Canvas
- Using GoReact for video peer review, presentation evaluation, and feedback
- Using any other academic tools such as iClicker, Turnitin, Respondus Quiz engine and LockDown Browser, Portfolium, Poll Everywhere, and more
