Welcome

The conference center is named after Dr. Marnix E. Heersink, a renowned eye surgeon, innovator, and entrepreneur. In 2021 UAB’s School of Medicine was renamed the UAB Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine following his transformation $95 million gift.

Located within the Altec Styslinger Genomic Medicine and Data Sciences Building, the conference center is across the street from the UAB School of Dentistry and connects via bridge to the second level of the hospital’s Jefferson Tower. The center consists of a large first floor lobby area, three meeting rooms, one with a 345-inch cinema sized 4K LED screen, catering kitchen, a roof-top terrace, and adjoining park space.
