HR Policy 316: Employee Photo Identification Badge/ONE Card has been updated effective Aug. 1. The changes reflect new requirements for employee ID badges that support implementation of a broader campus safety plan promoting greater control over access to campus facilities and employing additional technologies to enhance security for faculty, staff and students.
The changes to HR Policy 316 can be viewed online in the UAB Policies & Procedures Library. Details regarding the new UAB campus safety plan were published this month in the UAB Reporter: “New building security measures to begin this fall.”

As a public institution, UAB employees who meet certain criteria are required by the state of Alabama to complete an annual Statement of Economic Interests Form. As required by law, the UAB Human Resources provides the Alabama Ethics Commission with a list of current and previous employees who met one or more of the following criteria during the 2024 calendar year:
- Individuals whose base rate of pay at any time during calendar year 2024 was $97,000 or more, even if employment during the year was for a period as short as one day
- Individuals whose job included purchasing or procurement authority
- Individuals who served as a supervisor
- Executive Assistants to leaders in the institution due to their access to highly confidential information
If completed online, the form must be completed and submitted by the state mandated deadline of April 30, 2025. Direct mail forms must be postmarked no later than April 30, 2025. Failure to file will result in a fine of up to $1,000, a misdemeanor charge for failure to file or both, imposed by the Alabama Ethic Commission for non-compliance.

UAB Human Resources has revised HR Policy 619: Attendance and HR Policy 208: Time Tracking & Recordkeeping, effective December 2017.
