The UAB Tinsley Harrison Internal Medicine Residency Program recently held the first session of its annual PGY-2 Retreat. During the event, residents were encouraged to reflect on the successes and challenges of the previous year. Through workshops and open dialogue they developed leadership and communication skills. Retreat sessions were led by Co-Directors Drs. Lisa Willett and Ryan Kraemer, Associate Program Director Dr. Jason Morris, Professor Dr. Stan Massie, and Chief Medical Residents Drs. Aditi Jani and John Locke.

Amanda Willig, Ph.D., (Associate Professor, Infectious Diseases) and the Birmingham Aids Outreach Food Education Delivery Program are addressing food insecurity for patients with HIV by providing food, supplements, meal delivery, and nutrition and food safety education.

Winn Chatham, M.D., (Professor, Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology) and colleagues provided care to help a young woman paralyzed by scleroderma, systemic lupus return to health and mobility.

William A. Curry M.D., MACP (Professor Emeritus, General Internal Medicine) and colleagues developed a screening protocol that identifies asymptomatic patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 before they are seen in clinical settings.

Please join us in welcoming Assistant Professor Darryl Prime, M.D., to the Division of Cardiovascular Disease. This interventional cardiologist has clinical interest in treatment for patients with coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, and venous disease.
