The abiding passion of our investigators is to explore the realms of basic and clinical science—to tackle the toughest health problems and deliver solutions from bench to bedside and back again.

We are asking questions about everything from whether pig kidneys can alleviate the transplant shortage to how to encourage healthy lifestyles in disadvantaged communities, and we are excited about the discoveries that lay ahead.

Our overall NIH portfolio has grown approximately 35% since 2011, with over $79.5 million in funding. The Department ranks #17 in the nation, and we aim to continue that trend over the next five years.
