Admission Information

To qualify for this program a student should:
  1. Be completing at least 4 semesters of college coursework on a campus
  2. Have an overall GPA of 3.2 or higher
  3. Have an ACT of 22 or above; or an MCAT of 492 or above; or SAT scores higher than 1200
  4. Be an Alabama resident
Students from rural areas are given priority in the selection process.  A maximum of 16 students will be chosen for the internship. Each student receives a stipend to cover housing, transportation and meals.

The 2019 application period is November 26, 2018 – February 4, 2019.

NEW: The Montgomery campus of the UAB School of Medicine will host a Pre-medical Summer Internship in 2019. All applications submitted here will be shared with the Montgomery program. This means applicants might be invited to interview for both programs.

Important Dates

                February 2019: Applicants selected for interviews will be notified.
                February 2019: Applicant interviews conducted via videoconference. 
                March 2019: Notification of students accepted for HRPI.
                June 2, 2019: Arrive in Huntsville - set up housing in dormitory
                July 19, 2019: Last day of internship.
