Admission Information

To qualify for this program a student should:
  1. Be completing at least 4 semesters of college coursework on a campus
  2. Have an overall GPA of 3.2 or higher
  3. Have an ACT of 22 or above; or an MCAT of 492 or above; or SAT scores higher than 1200
  4. Be an Alabama resident
Students from rural areas are given priority in the selection process.  A maximum of 16 students will be chosen for the internship. Each student receives a stipend to cover housing, transportation and meals. 


The 2020 application period is Dec. 2, 2019 - Feb. 3, 2020. Interviews will be conducted in late February/early March 2020.

Important Dates

                February 2020: Applicants selected for interviews will be notified.
                February - March 2020: Applicant interviews will be conducted in locations throughout Alabama.  
                March 2020: Notification of students accepted for HRPI.
                May 31, 2020: Arrive in Huntsville - set up housing in dormitory
                July 17, 2020: Last day of internship.
