Robert (Bo) Cofield, Dr.P.H., has been named director of operations for the UAB Health System. His duties include executive responsibility for Managed Care Contracting, Patient and Staff Satisfaction, Marketing Communications, Strategic Planning and Market Research, MIST/Health Finder, and the Office of Medical Publications.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Robert (Bo) Cofield, Dr.P.H., has been named director of operations for the UAB Health System. His duties include executive responsibility for Managed Care Contracting, Patient and Staff Satisfaction, Marketing Communications, Strategic Planning and Market Research, MIST/Health Finder, and the Office of Medical Publications.

Previously, Dr. Cofield served as director of special projects, administration, and finance, for the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation (UAHSF). In that position, he assumed corporate management responsibility for the managed-care business of the UAHSF.

Prior to moving to Birmingham, Dr. Cofield was an administrative fellow at Tulane University Hospital and Clinic in New Orleans from 1995 to 1998. He subsequently served as a consultant to the Tulane University Department of Health Systems Management while completing his doctoral education. A graduate of Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, Dr. Cofield holds Master of Health Administration and Doctor of Public Health degrees from Tulane.
