The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees awarded four endowed professorships.

The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees named seven endowed chairholders during its Feb. 3 meeting.

Kristi Lamont Ellis, director of Internal Communications and Relations at UAB, will serve as interim general manager of public radio station WBHM 90.3 beginning Oct. 1 following the retirement of longtime general manager Mike Morgan.

The UAB family has just a few days left to vote for the UAB Marching Blazers as they vie for a $50,000 grant in the Pepsi Challenge.

The UAB Police Department has been awarded re-accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), an international law enforcement accreditation program that sets the standards for police departments across the United States and Canada.

A Blazer Enrollment Center has been established to assist students with questions; new website for current and prospective students is now online.

UAB has received a notification involving refunds of occupational taxes paid to Jefferson County from Jan. 12, 2009, through Aug. 13, 2009.

UAB Hospital will begin screening every patient treated in the ER to reduce those numbers through a program funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Michael Reddy, DMD, DMSc, has been named interim dean of the UAB School of Dentistry, effective June 6.

Linda Lucas, Ph.D., dean of UAB’s School of Engineering since 2000, has been named interim provost.
