About the Program

As students consider a course of study, they need academic counselors like you to guide them along the way. In this program, we can give you the skills you need to work in high school or postsecondary settings.

This certificate is designed to align our curriculum with the four pillars of the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA): concepts, values, competencies, and standards. Consisting of 15 hours, this program will teach you about topics such as academic advising history and practices; college student development; academic advising assessment; and diversity, equity, inclusion, and advocacy. Upon completion, you should be well-prepared for a career that is experiencing tremendous growth both in Alabama and regionally.
