About the Program

If your path has already led you to advanced scholarship and your goals are to pursue original research in an array of fields where engineering and public health intersect, then this coordinated degree offers significant opportunity. The curriculum supports students interested in engineering design, sustainable urban development, renewable energy systems, natural resource management, health and livability, transport and mobility, data analytics, and smart technologies.

UAB’s interdisciplinary approach ensures that students will work closely with faculty in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering but will also work with faculty from other UAB departments as well as outside industry. Students will gain a solid foundation in public health through completion of the MPH core, an internship, and capstone course. Additional courses focusing on air and water pollution, occupational safety, and assessing and managing environmental risks are also a part of this innovative curriculum.
