Enrollment at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, bolstered by record recruitment and retention gains, increased by 1,202 students year-over-year to a record-high 19,535 for the fall 2016 semester, including a 24.7 percent increase in the freshman class.

If that question makes you sweat, the UAB EXPERIENCES program can help. All trainees need to be informed and educated about careers within and outside traditional academic research to be job-ready in today’s economy.

We've been impressed all year with the research our graduate students are doing as well as the creative and interesting ways they find to present their work to the public - and we want to add more students to the Discoveries program this fall!

Fancy hearing an 80,000 word thesis explained in less than 180 seconds? Research students from across the globe are doing just that in preparation for the Three Minute Thesis Competition (3MT®). Established by The University of Queensland (UQ) in 2008, 3MT® is now held in at least 200 universities across more than 18 countries worldwide.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham and HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology have been awarded a National Institutes of Health Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award to train postdoctoral fellows who have earned an M.D. and/or a Ph.D. The UAB-HudsonAlpha Genomic Medicine Research Training Program is designed to recruit trainees from various disciplines and provide mentorship and clinical research training in genomic medicine. At HudsonAlpha, the program will provide up to two years of support for postdoctoral trainees who choose to learn and work at the Institute.
