Vickers SelwynSelwyn M. Vickers, MD, Senior Vice President and Dean of the School of MedicineSenior Vice President and Dean of the School of Medicine, Selwyn Vickers, M.D., will present his first State of the School of Medicine Address on Wednesday, January 28, 2015. This presentation will be held in the Margaret Cameron Spain Auditorium during the regular noon time slot for Medical Grand Rounds.

Expect to hear about achievements from the past year across the broad missions of the School of Medicine: research, clinical care and medical education. He will also outline his plan for continued growth in pursuit of becoming the preferred academic medical center.

Schwartz David MD MPHDavid A. Schwartz, MD, MPH, University of ColoradoThat afternoon, our special guest speaker will be David A. Schwartz, M.D., Chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. He will present "The Genetics of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis" in the West Pavilion Conference Room E at 4:00 p.m.

Dr. Shwartz is one of the leaders in pulmonary medicine who discovered that pulmonary fibrosis (a deadly disease long attributed to repeated injury to the lungs) is also linked to a common variant of a gene that codes for mucus production.

This specially scheduled afternoon Medical Grand Rounds will be presented in an interactive format, featuring a case presentation, lecutre, and Q&A. A reception will follow at 5:00 p.m.
