The auditorium, which seats 128 classroom style, is used for weekly grand rounds taught by Huntsville and visiting faculty.

Huntsville Hospital

Huntsville Hospital is a 941-bed hospital that was established in 1895. A community-based, not-for-profit institution, Huntsville Hospital is the state’s second largest hospital. As a teaching facility for the University of Alabama-Birmingham's School of Medicine and the Family Medicine and Internal Medicine Residency Programs, Huntsville Hospital helps train physicians for communities throughout Alabama and beyond.

Huntsville Hospital led the effort to link like-minded public hospitals in the Tennessee Valley and today is the nation’s fifth largest publicly owned hospital system with more than 1,800 beds and 12,000 employees. Many of these facilities participate in medical education through agreements that allow clinical faculty at their hospitals to allow students and residents to accompany them during patient care. These include Athens-Limestone Hospital, Decatur Morgan Hospital, Marshall Medical Centers, and Helen Keller Hospital.

Huntsville Hospital serves as the major referral hospital and trauma center for patients throughout north Alabama and southern Tennessee. Huntsville Hospital has more than 800 highly trained physicians who are supported by 5,000 hospital employees, including nearly 2,000 nurses. Facilities include Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children, an outpatient Medical Mall, Madison Medical Park and a 70-bed rehabilitation hospital located on the campus. Huntsville Hospital operates a cafeteria and grill onsite.

Located a block to the east of the UAB Huntsville Campus facility, Huntsville Hospital and Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children are connected by a tram spanning two city blocks. The tram system provides easy, secure transport between the two facilities 24 hours a day. Sleep rooms, study areas, and shower facilities are available at both locations for medical students and residents.

The mission of Huntsville Hospital is to provide quality care in order to improve the health of those we serve. This mission is fulfilled without tax support from any governmental entity.
