The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) has named James H. Halsey Jr., M.D., as professor emeritus in the School of Medicine.

 

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) has named James H. Halsey Jr., M.D., as professor emeritus in the School of Medicine. The appointment was made by the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees at its Sept. 18 meeting.

Halsey earned his medical degree from Yale University, completed a tour in the United States Air Force and joined the UAB faculty in 1965. Halsey was professor and chair of the Department of Neurology from 1974-1985.

Halsey has been recognized for excellence with a number of honors from academic and professional organizations. He holds memberships in the American Academy of Neurology, the Alabama Academy of Psychiatry and Neurology, the American Medical Association, the American Neurological Association, the American Heart Association and the Council on Stroke.
