Anniston attorney and UAB graduate Renee D. Kirby has been named the new coach of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Mock Trial team.

 

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Anniston attorney and UAB graduate Renee D. Kirby has been named the new coach of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Mock Trial team.

Kirby, who was the UAB Mock Trial team captain from 2000 to 2001, graduated from UAB in 2001 with a degree in criminal justice. She earned her law degree from the Cumberland School of Law in 2003.

The UAB Mock Trial team is administered through the UAB Department of Justice Sciences interdisciplinary Pre-Law Program. Kirby succeeds UAB Assistant Professor and Pre-Law Director John W. Grimes, J.D., under whose leadership the team won several regional and national awards, including the 2006 American Mock Trial Association (AMTA) National Mock Trial Tournament.

UAB's Department of Justice Sciences offers a bachelor and a graduate degree in criminal justice. The program also offers a master's in forensic science, a certificate in computer forensics, an undergraduate minor in forensic psychology and a legal affairs minor.
