Three advisors at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) have won national honors from the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA).

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Three advisors at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) have won national honors from the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA).  

Holly Radford, an advisor in general studies, won the Outstanding New Advisor award in the Academic Advising Primary Role category. Radford joined UAB in 2008 and advises freshman and students with undeclared majors. She helped organize a speed-advising event to help students still searching for majors and initiated webcam advising for students unable to meet with counselors face-to-face.

Department of Music Associate Chair and Instructor Dale Reynolds, M.M., received an Outstanding Advising Certificate of Merit in the Faculty Academic Advising category. Reynolds is one of 15 faculty advisors nationwide honored in this category this year. She was selected as the Outstanding Faculty Advisor at UAB for the 2009-10 academic year.

Katherine Klyce, an advisor in the UAB Department of Psychology, received an Outstanding Advising Certificate of Merit Award in the Academic Advising Primary Role category. She is one of 22 academic advisers honored in this category nationwide. Klyce won an Outstanding Advising award at UAB earlier this spring.

All three winners will be honored in Florida during the NACADA annual conference this fall.
