Dionne-Odom films video for American Society of Clinical Oncology

University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing Postdoctoral Fellow J. Nicholas Dionne-Odom, PhD, RN, ACHPN, recently presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) 2016 Palliative Care Oncology Symposium in San Francisco and was asked to further explain the scholarly work from his presentation, “Expanding Endpoints in Oncology Palliative Care to Include Family Caregivers,” in a video interview for The ASCO Post website.

Dionne-Odom said his presentation is crucial in understanding why cancer family caregivers are important, learning what their unmet needs are and describing the ENABLE (Educate, Nurture, Advise Before Life Ends) model of early concurrent palliative care for family caregivers.

He was pleased to bring even more attention to the subject through the video.

“It is a true gift that ASCO provided the opportunity for me to advocate for oncology palliative care support of family caregiving through its media promotions program,” Dionne-Odom said. “I am grateful and believe this outlet will enhance the dissemination of our research and ultimately benefit patients and their families.”
