School of Health Professions Dean Harold P. Jones, Ph.D., is the winner of the 2016 UAB Honorary Alumni Award. Jones, who is the longest tenured dean at UAB, received the award given to “a member of the UAB family who has made exceptional contributions to UAB and its programs” at a ceremony at the UAB National Alumni Society House on Friday, September 30, 2016.

Master of Science in Health Administration (MSHA Class 18) alumnus, has been named president and CEO of Quorum Health Corporation. The move became official on April 29, 2016, when Community Health Systems announced it completed the spinoff of QHC from CHS.

Sylvia Young, alumna of the UAB Master of Science in Health Administration (Class 19) program, has been named one of the Top 25 Most Powerful Women by the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce. Winners are nominated by peers and then chosen by the previous year’s Top 25. Young currently serves as president and CEO of HCA Continental Division and HCA-HealthONE.

Brian E. Condit, MD, FAAPMR, graduate of the UAB Master of Science in Health Administration, has been named Vice President / Chief Medical Officer for the Northeast Market of Mountain States Health Alliance. Mountain States has 14 hospitals and serves 29 counties in Tennessee, Virginia, Kentucky and North Carolina. It is that region’s largest healthcare system.

University of Alabama at Birmingham’s National Alumni Society has formally recognized the UAB Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) Alumni Chapter. The first NAS chapter established in the Middle East includes 31 graduates of Saudi Arabia’s inaugural UAB Executive Master of Science in Health Administration. The chapter is open to any UAB graduate that lives in Saudi Arabia.
