Quick checklist for your photoshoot:

  • Make your appointment online.
  • Meet photographer on 3rd floor of Hill Student Center - in front of windows near balcony.
  • We’ll need to cancel if it’s raining and will reschedule.

All headshots are taken on Tuesdays between 9am and 11:30am on the 3rd floor of Hill Student Center at 1400 University Blvd, near the large windows by the balcony.

You must swipe in to the Hill Student Center with your ONE Card or present your ONE Card to a staff member to gain entry into the building.

Please make every effort to keep your appointment and if possible, give at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel. This will allow another client to reserve an appointment. Any no-show appointments will be charged.

Day of your photo:

  • Due to UAB’s social distancing guidelines, the photographer will not be able to show you the image in the camera after your photo is taken.
  • Unfortunately, because of time constraints, we cannot accommodate wardrobe changes.

Other important info:

  • Please do not utilize this service in order to schedule multiple individual headshot appointments for a specific departmental purpose such as for a website, poster, brochure, pamphlet, etc. Instead, please contact our team at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for more information and we will make a special appointment for your group as a Fee for Service, or refer you to a UAB-approved freelancer.
  • Please only schedule one headshot appointment per year (e.g., if your last headshot was taken in June 2021, please do not schedule another appointment until June, 2022).
  • If you require a redo, you will be charged a fee.
  • When making an appointment, include the email address where you would like to be notified that the photos are on the UAB Image Gallery.
  • Please be aware that we require five working days to process your headshots and that we will not send you multiple photos for pre-approval, but will pick one horizontal and one vertical photo and apply any touch-ups, if necessary.
  • University Relations does not photograph events such as award ceremonies, private parties, luncheons, etc.
  • Because of the potential for breaking news items, the photographer may have to cancel with little notice.

What to wear for your headshot:

  • Avoid wearing patterns.
  • Simple colors are best.
  • Avoid wearing seasonal apparel.
  • Avoid wearing clothing with logos (team logos included).
  • If you wear a white coat, make sure it is pressed, and bring it to the shoot.
