I am fortunate to be able to bring my love of writing to the college classroom, as my entire professional life has been devoted to writing and editing. In my freshman composition classes, I seek to help students enhance their writing processes and embolden them to experiment with new rhetorical strategies. My goal in literature survey classes is for students to take ownership of their understanding and learning through deep inquiry brought about by a variety of writing tasks and activities, both in and outside class meetings.

My current creative projects include a collection of creative non-fiction. When I am not reading, writing, or teaching, I tend to start DIY projects that require skills I do not yet have. I also enjoy traveling to places for the first time, attending concerts, and riding my mountain bike (the very adventurous-sounding Specialized Rockhopper). My husband and I have raised four children, and the remaining full-time residents include a 12-year-old Corgi who snores in her advanced age, an energetic puppy whose breed is anyone’s guess, and a cranky overweight cat who takes his job a little too seriously.
