I have been at UAB since 1992. I enjoy working with other UAB faculty and teaching assistants to give undergraduates a good learning foundation in introductory classes. I am involved in the UAB Teach program — which prepares science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) majors for teaching careers — and I am excited to see our well-prepared students improve science education in Alabama.

I am an active participant and volunteer with UAB’s community garden program. Outside UAB, I am on the board of directors of the non-profit group Friends of Shades Creek. Our group actively works to keep Shades Creek clean, protect the Homewood salamander population, maintain the Homewood forest preserve, and provide educational and recreational opportunities related to Shades Creek and the Cahaba. I also enjoy being a member of the Birmingham Audubon Society.
