CCTS is pleased to announce the grantees of the 6th Annual Community Health Innovation Award (CHIA). The recipients were honored at an awards ceremony at the UAB National Alumni House on Monday, December 17, 2018, where a total of $56,000 was distributed to launch or extend projects addressing critical health concerns in the Birmingham community.

The below grantees participated in a rigorous 10-week process that included attending a mandatory Innovation Workshop to refine their project ideas, submission of a full proposal that was formally reviewed against the CHIA criteria, access to mentorship, and a final presentation of their project before a panel of three judges.

A record number of applicants applied this year, with eight non-profit organizations making it through the entire process to receive a grant of $5000-$25,000. The CHIA awardees selected from this final group comprised two new initiatives and two projects seeking funding to extend their services.

CCTS congratulates its 2018 CHIA grantees and wishes to thank the staff, faculty, and volunteers, including mentors and judges, who help make the program a success every year. We are also deeply grateful to our 2018 CHIA donors for their generous support.
