The Alabama Brain Bee is a competition for high school students that seek to promote awareness and enthusiasm for neuroscience. The Alabama Brain Bee is a component of the global Brain Bee community. The champion from the local level earns the opportunity to represent their region at the national level – and, perhaps, the international level. Winners of the past two Alabama Brain Bees have placed in the top 3 in the US National Brain Bee competition.

Traditionally, the local competition consists of multiple choice and oral components. A link to study materials can be found on the Brain Bee prep page. For the national competition, students are tested on neuroanatomical practicals, neurohistologica slide readings, patient diagnosis, and MRI reading.

UAB will be hosting the 7th Annual Alabama Brain Bee on Sat., Feb. 25, and the CCTS encourages you to share this wonderful opportunity with any students in your life. Preparing and competing in the Brain Bee provides a great learning experience, including a chance to participate in interactive neuroscience activities. No student leaves the competition empty-handed (see list of prizes below). Past International Brain Bee winners have had the incredible opportunity to work with top researchers and neuroscientists.
