Tinsley Harrison 04 by Kim 607x455For the past year, the UAB Informatics Institute (II) has been run out of a single office in the Faculty Office Towers building. On April 25, 2016, Dr. James J. Cimino, inaugural director of the UAB Informatics Institute (II), will preside over the grand opening of his Institute’s new space, located on the first floor of the Tinsley Harrison Research Tower.

Although several offices are yet to be populated, “the move represents an exciting step toward the goal of transforming UAB into a national center of biomedical informatics research and development,” said Dr. Cimino. The new space “will help us recruit and retain the informatics faculty and graduate students needed to deliver on the promise of next generation electronic health records and support the University’s biomedical research enterprise, both of which share the goal of improving patient care.”

The event will start at the Finley Conference Center at 4 p.m., followed by a reception at 4:30 in the Institute’s new space on the first floor of Tinsley Harrison. Please check back for more details as they become available or contact This email address is being protected from spambots.
