About the Program

Interested in being part of a child's success? As a preschool or elementary-school teacher, you can make a lasting impact in a young student's life. This degree can help prepare you for a career working with pre-K through sixth grade students in a variety of educational settings.

We believe hands-on experience is very important. That's why, in addition to courses like Humanistic and Behavioral Studies, Early Childhood Education, and Elementary Education, you'll complete an internship. You'll also take Foundations of Education, Child Development/Family Relations, Developmental Reading, and other classes. Finally, starting in your junior year, you'll be able to participate in the Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education Honors Program, which will lead you to an Alabama Class B teacher certificate.
