UAB's Office of Postdoctoral Education (OPE) has several exciting events planned for the spring 2016 semester. Check out the details below, and consider making room for these events in your calendar.

PhD comic conference presentationCareer Seminar - January 22

The latest panel in the OPE's "New Careers for Today's Scientists" series will cover the topic "From the Lab to Commercial Drugs." The seminar and panel discussion will be led by Southern Research. Head up to the Edge of Chaos on the 4th floor of Lister Hill Library on Friday, January 22, 2016 at noon to hear the panel and get a free lunch provided by the OPE. The seminar lasts until 2 p.m., and networking will be from 2 to 3 p.m.

Postdoc Research Day - February 15

The 2016 Postdoc Research Day competition is Monday, Feb. 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the West Pavilion. Monetary prizes will be awarded. Breakfast, lunch and coffee will be served. Abstracts, which should be uploaded to the OPE website, are due January 15, 2016.

Mentoring Week - April 18-22

  • Mentoring Academy on Monday, April 18 at DoubleTree Hotel. The Mentoring Academy is open to new and junior faculty.
  • Theater Delta presentation on How to be a Mentee on Tuesday, April 19 at Edge of Chaos
  • Dr. Molly Carnes (http://wiseli.engr.wisc.edu/people/carnes.php) will speak on Implicit Bias as the keynote speaker on Wednesday, April 20 at Edge of Chaos
  • Myers-Briggs Workshop on Thursday, April 21 (tentative)
  • Mentor / Mentee Lunch on Friday, April 22 (tentative)
