The Heersink School of Medicine participates in the AMCAS Early Decision Program.
Criteria
To be eligible for participation in the EDP, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a legal resident of Alabama
- Be eligible for a Bachelor's degree by the date of matriculation
- Have an undergraduate GPA of 3.6 or higher
- Have a 506 or higher MCAT score

Accepted Early Decision Program applicants must meet the eligibility criteria for early decision, as well as the regular admission requirements to the School of Medicine.
Acceptance Decision
Early Decision Program applicants will be advised of the admission committee decision no later than Oct. 1.
- If an applicant is not accepted as an early decision student, they may have the opportunity to have their application changed to the 'RegularMD' pool.
- At that time, the applicant is entered into the regular admissions process for further consideration and is free to apply to other schools.
