Santhosh Kumar Karthikeyan, graduate student pursuing a Ph.D. in cancer biology in the lab of Sooryanarayana Varambally, Ph.D., Professor, Molecular and Cellular Pathology, was selected as first-place winner of the Midsouth Computational Biology and Bioinformatics Society’s (MCBIOS) 2024 Young Scientist Excellence Award.
It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Michael Conner, M.D. Dr. Conner was a professor emeritus in the Division of Anatomic Pathology.
The UAB Department of Pathology celebrated the 29th year of its Paulette Shirey Pritchett Endowed Lecture in Pathology on May 16 with an outstanding lecture by Vishva M. Dixit, M.D., Vice President, Early Discovery Research, Genentech, Director, Genentech Postdoctoral Program. Dixit delivered the talk, titled, "Why So Many Ways to Die?"
On May 6, 2024, the Department of Pathology welcomes a new faculty member to the Division of Neuropathology, led by C. Ryan Miller, M.D., Ph.D.
Christina Appin, M.D., joins the department as assistant professor, Neuropathology. Dr. Appin joins us from her most recent role as a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of California at San Francisco, in the lab of Joseph Costello, Ph.D. Prior to this she was an assistant professor in the Department of Pathology at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine.
