BIRMINGHAM, AL — Peter Guenther, Ph.D., has joined the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Business as visiting professor of finance in the department of finance, economics and quantitative methods for the Fall 2001 semester.

Guenther, who is academic director of the MBA program at the University of Applied Science in Esslingen, Germany, is teaching investment courses and working on research projects during his visit to UAB.

“I am pleased to have been invited to UAB,” Guenther said. “The UAB School of Business is an excellent educational institution and I look forward to spending the next few months in Birmingham teaching and doing research. I am enjoying the students, faculty and staff here at UAB.”

“Peter is an excellent addition to the faculty this semester,” said Richard Burns, Ph.D., chair of the finance, economics and quantitative methods department. “He brings a wealth of knowledge, enthusiasm, and teaching and research experience to the table that will help educate our students and prepare them for the workforce. I have already had positive feedback about him from both faculty and students.”

Guenther earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics and business, and his Ph.D. in economics, from the University of Ulm in Germany. Guenther previously spent three semesters as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Wisconsin.
