BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Fourth Annual Suits 4 Success clothing drive kicks off Monday, Sept. 13 and will through Friday, Sept.17, 2010. The drive aims to collect lightly worn women's business clothing appropriate for office or retail settings for disadvantaged women who are trying to return to or enter the work force.

Organized by the University of Alabama at Birmingham Commission on the Status of Women, Suits 4 Success clothing will be donated to My Sister's Closet, an outreach program of the YWCA of Central Alabama.

The drive is aimed at providing quality business attire to women who lack the financial resources to buy the kind of wardrobe required in a professional setting. "Last year we collected two tons of clothing during the drive," said Heather Maddux White, coordinator for Suits 4 Success. "The generosity exhibited by the donors within our community is a godsend for disadvantaged women seeking to build a better life for themselves."

The drive is accepting tax-deductible donations of clean suits, jackets, skirts, casual pants, shirts, shoes, handbags and accessories at the John N. Whitaker Building, 500 22nd St. South, from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. each day.

Drop boxes for UAB employees will be located in the Administration Building, Heritage Hall, Campbell Hall, Business and Engineering Complex, Humanities Building, Hill University Center, School of Nursing, School of Public Health, School of Education, School of Health Professions and the Webb Building.
