If you are experiencing extreme tiredness and fatigue even after your cancer treatment ends, you may be eligible to participate in a new mind/body research study. To qualify for this study, you must be a Stage II, Stage III or Stage IV cancer survivor who has completed all cancer treatment at least 6 months ago and within the last 10 years. Local physicians are part of a larger clinical trial utilizing an investigational medical device for people with post-amputation pain. If you are experiencing moderate to severe post-amputation pain not controlled by medication, we invite you to learn more. Qualifications for the study include: one amputated lower limb; frequent and recurring amputation pain; willingness to undergo implant surgery; and age 21 or older. The UAB Office of Psychiatric Research is conducting a study examining the relationship between early life stress, depression, and glucose metabolism. In order to qualify, you must have no history of anxiety, psychosis, mania, substance dependence within a year. You must also have no history of endocrine, cardiovascular, or inflammatory diseases. The Neuroinflammation, Pain and Fatigue Lab is currently looking for Veterans of the Persian Gulf War to participate in our research studies.  If you are male, between the ages of 39-65, and were present in the Persian Gulf between 1990-August 1991, you may be eligible to participate in one of our new research studies.  Veterans with Gulf War Illness, healthy Gulf War Veterans, and individuals with Fibromyalgia/ Chronic Fatigue Syndrome are all needed. A 24-month research study is being conducted by the UAB School of Dentistry to determine the effectiveness of a commercially available tooth colored dental filling materials bonded on the sides of teeth with three adhesives. Enrollment in the study requires that the subject be available for the 24-month study period. Screening appointments now are available and subjects needing fillings on the sides of their teeth are likely candidates. The fillings are free and a monetary incentive is paid at each recall visit.
