Strengthen the voice of UAB staff by nominating yourself or a colleague to represent your school, college, or unit for the 2024-2026 UAB Staff Council.  The new representatives will serve a two-year term that begins in August 2024 and ends in July 2026.

Last year, UAB Staff Council voted to change the number of representatives per unit to reflect the number of staff members more accurately. You can check your unit’s number of representatives on our Elections website. Staff Council is excited to have a better opportunity to represent UAB staff, and looks forward to increased engagement with the additional representatives.

Dates & details

  • April 1 – 15: Nominations open
  • April 15 – 31: Candidate review and approval
  • May 1 – 8: Elections open
  • May 14: Election results announced
  • August 2024: New term begins


Have someone in mind? Here are the qualifications they should meet:

  • Have been employed as a staff member at UAB for at least 12 consecutive months (as of the date of nomination)
  • Be in good standing with the University and their department
  • Have supervisor approval for time commitment required for Staff Council activities
  • Be prepared to represent all UAB staff in their unit
  • Be willing to attend monthly meetings (1.5 hours on the last Wednesday of the month) and to take an active role in council orientation and committee activities

On April 1, you will be able to submit your nominations on the UAB Staff Council SharePoint site. Candidates may self-nominate or be nominated by a third party.
