Ambassadors are selected each spring in coordination with the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership’s Student Leader Selection. At the conclusion of Student Leader Selection, 24 outstanding students will be selected to serve as UAB Ambassadors.

Membership is open to all UAB students (undergraduate or graduate) enrolled fulltime and have completed 12 hours at UAB prior to applying. Ambassadors are also required to maintain a minimum of 12 hours of enrollment each semester during their year of service. Applicants must have and maintain a 3.0 cumulative UAB grade point average.

Collectively, the Ambassadors maintain a 3.8 cumulative GPA. Academics are a priority of this elite group of student leaders and GPA is considered when selecting new members.

Ambassadors selected for service will participate in training during the spring semester and start official duties at Spring Commencement. Ambassadors are given preference if able to work over the summer semester.

While the Ambassadors are a premier leadership organization, the task-specific role is often simple yet time-consuming. Prospective candidates must be prepared to hold doors, greet guests, smile and welcome patrons, check-in guests, etc.
