Environmental Management is responsible for all UAB activities that have environmental impacts, including day-to-day regulatory compliance and permitting related to hazardous waste management, air emissions and wastewater discharges. We also coordinate environmental site assessments on prospective UAB property acquisitions. We seek to develop and implement programs that ensure UAB compliance with state, federal and county environmental requirements and which maintain the university's commitment to good environmental stewardship.

Disposing of hazardous or regulated waste is covered under federal, state, and local mandates. Hazardous and regulated waste can't be emptied into regular trash cans, poured down sinks, or emptied into the sewer system. Doing so could harm the environment and cost UAB dollars that could be spent elsewhere. Please think before you put or pour hazardous or regulated waste in the wrong place.
