The third annual Breath of Life motorcycle ride, presented by online motorcycle magazine Cycle Connections and benefiting the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Lung Health Center, will hit the streets Saturday, July 25.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The third annual Breath of Life motorcycle ride, presented by online motorcycle magazine Cycle Connections and benefiting the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Lung Health Center, will hit the streets Saturday, July 25.  Riders will start at the Birmingham Race course at 12:30 p.m., ride to Five Points South and UAB and then get a quick tour of the Lung Health Center and free lunch at Becky's South.

Registration is $25 per rider and $10 per passenger. Riders can rendezvous with others for the trip to the race course at 11:30 a.m. at Riders in Trussville, Victory-Suzuki Warehouse in Pelham, Heart of Dixie in Pelham and Custom Performance in Bessemer.

Riders also can help by eating at area restaurants including 5 Points Grill, Cosmo's Pizza, Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q and Highland's Bar & Grill, which will donate part of their proceeds on the 25th to the Lung Health Center.

Associated events include an auction at the Birmingham Race Course on Friday evening, July 24 and a bike show at Cancun Mexican Restaurant at 6 p.m. on Saturday night.  The bike show is free to those who made the UAB ride earlier that day.

The UAB Lung Health Center provides education to patients, their families and the community while conducting research related to the prevention and management of lung diseases. The Lung Health Center directs several projects devoted to the prevention of lung diseases. Some of the many current research programs and projects include studies on asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, tuberculosis and pharmaceutical trials.
