This committee replaces the President’s Security Forum, which was formed in 2012 to improve information security at UAB. The expanded membership represents entities across the UAB enterprise.

During its first meeting Feb. 4, committee co-chairs Julio Rivera, Ph.D., interim director of UAB's Honors College, and Franklin Tessler, M.D., senior vice chair of radiology, discussed the history of this effort, reviewed recent progress, outlined the challenges UAB faces and asked member's assistance in meeting the committee’s goals.

The committee will coordinate efforts between UAB and UABHS information security offices to facilitate risk assessment, implement policies and procedures to minimize risk and periodically provide advice and recommendations to UAB leadership.

Direct questions or requests for information to Rivera, Tessler or Chief Information Security officers Joe Popinski and Dave Summitt.
