UAB named the First Health Promoting University in the US

The University of Alabama at Birmingham is the first university in the United States to adopt the Okanagan Charter and become an internationally recognized Health Promoting University. The Okanagan Charter: An International Charter for Health Promoting Universities and Colleges calls on post-secondary schools to embed health into all aspects of campus culture; and to lead health promotion action and collaboration, locally and globally. Created in June 2015, the Charter provides institutions with a common language, principles, and a vision for wellbeing in person, place and planet. UAB is a proud member of the U.S. Health Promoting Campuses Network as well at the International Health Promoting Universities and Colleges.
