On behalf of the Miss UAB Scholarship Program Committee, we appreciate your interest in our competition and look forward to working with you.
The Miss UAB Scholarship Competition has been a proud and exciting affiliate of the Miss Alabama and Miss America Organizations, which is the largest competitive scholarship program for young women. The Miss UAB Program will award more than $4,000 in scholarships and prizes at the competition. Scholarships are foremost in the competition and have afforded many young women the opportunity to further their education. Several winners have also continued to win additional scholarships in the Miss Alabama Competition.
The competition will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 5:30 pm. Tickets are $10 for the public, $5 for children ages 3-10, and free to UAB students, faculty, and staff with their Engage Event Pass or Blazer ID.

Age/Eligibility Requirements
- United States Citizen
- Must be born between 1996-2006
- Must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student in good academic standing at UAB with a minimum 2.5 UAB Cumulative GPA
- Must be a female
Wardrobe Needs
Opening Number: Will be announced a later date
Evening Wear: Evening Gown
Private Interview & On-Stage Question/Social Impact Pitch: Suit or Dress (You must wear the same outfit for both phases.)
Talent: Talent Outfit
Health and Fitness: Contestants will choose between 4 tops and 3 bottoms to wear during the Health and Fitness segment of the competition.
Heels/Accessories to match all outfits
NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO MAKE UP OR HAIR ARTISTS ALLOWED IN THE DRESSING ROOM ON THE DAY OF THE COMPETITION
2024 Competition Information
Please complete the 2024 candidate paperwork for entry into the 2024 competition. Please read all paperwork and instructions carefully. Please submit completed paperwork to Competition Candidate Application on Engage, which is linked below. The competition is limited to the first 20 qualified candidates who provide all of the required paperwork/documentation/fees as well as attend one of the interest meetings.
The deadline for completed packets is 11:59pm on Friday September 15th. Approved candidates will be notified via email.
Important Dates
Friday, September 15 – Candidate Packet Deadline
All candidate paperwork and Miss America fees MUST be submitted by 11:59pm on this date via the Candidate Application Form on Engage. You will be contacted once your packet is approved.
Sunday, September 24 – Candidate Orientation
Please come photo ready in a nice top or dress. We will be taking headshots. A sign-up will be available to sign up for your mock interview and official interview times. Candidates will also draw competition numbers at this time.

Friday, October 20 – Mock Interviews
Mock Interviews will be conducted in the Hill Student Center Room 230: Office of Student Involvement and Leadership between 9am-4:30pm.
Sunday, October 22 – Deadline for Competition Wardrobe Approval & Competition Rehearsal

Rehearsal will take place at 2 pm to learn the opening number and review the phases of competition. Location: Hill Student Center Room 318.
All music for Talent must be turned in. Music must be cut to end at 90 seconds. You may turn in a flash drive at rehearsal or email it to
Ticket money due for family and friends. More details will be provided at Orientation.
NOTE: If you miss rehearsal, it is your responsibility to learn choreography. Schedule an appointment if necessary.
October TBD - Miss UAB Competition Service Day
Join Miss UAB 2023 for service and to get to know one another. Location and time TBD. Attire is UAB casual.
Thursday, November 9 – Competition Rehearsal
Required rehearsal begins at 5pm in the Hill Student Center Ballroom CD. We will run through the show from beginning to end starting at 5pm with your full wardrobe. Please inform the Director if you have class.
