Southeastern Outdoor Leadership Conference
September 16 - 17, 2023
The Southeastern Outdoor Leadership Conference will be hosted at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in the campus recreation center. This conference will allow for the student staff of adventure recreation programs from across the southeast to share their knowledge experience, and passion for the outdoors. They will have the opportunity to apply to present at the conference on any subject matter they believe to be pertinent to outdoor recreation. This can include a hard skill, an industry issue, or anything they are passionate about in relation to outdoor recreation. To conclude the conference presentations, we will have a round table of present adventure recreation coordinators to allow students to ask questions about this pathway for a profession in outdoor recreation and we will also have a headline speaker present a different path for young professionals to pursue their passion for the outdoors. All the events listed prior will take place on Saturday, September 16th. These events will begin at 8:30 AM and conclude at 4:30 PM. At this point, we will move from the UAB campus to Oak Mountain State Park where you will be able to camp and share a meal with students from programs from across the state. On Sunday we will take the opportunity to get into the outdoors. You will have the opportunity to choose from different experiences. You can mountain bike, hike, or go spelunking at Tumbling Rock. You will need to indicate when you register which activity you would like to partake in. We look forward to seeing you here at UAB.

Registration includes access to conference keynote, educational sessions, workshops, lunch on Saturday, & Camping at Ride Bham Friday and Saturday Night. The conference rates are fixed and not based on the number of lodging/sessions/events you attend.
Refund Policy for attendees- Attendees of the 2023 Southeastern Outdoor Leadership Conference are eligible for a 75% refund if they notify the conference host prior to August 16th, 2023. All requests for refunds after August 16th will be dismissed regardless of the reason. To request a refund please send an email to

Lodging
Lodging will be at Ride Bham on Friday and Saturday night and is included in your registration fee. If you desire to stay in a hotel near campus the information below will allow you to find a room next to campus.

The UAB Hilton Hotel is located only a few blocks away from the UAB REC Center. The UAB Hilton provides a limited shuttle service that travels in a one-mile radius and to/from Birmingham Airport for travel needs outside the conference sessions. The conference fee will include your lunch on Saturday. You have the option of selecting our accommodation option. Which will be camping at Ride Bham. Camping gear not included.
