Two hundred researchers from across the country begin the Kaizen-R2T contest, an effort to share more broadly an innovative way to gain formal training in Rigor, Reproducibility and Transparency competencies. Kaizen is an application-based learning platform that leverages a quiz game format to provide a fun yet competitive training environment. This tool is now being shared beyond the CCTS Partner Network through an international R2T game, organized by the CCTS and the Edge for Scholars. The R2T game meets NIH policy requirements for Rigor, Reproducibility and Transparency training.

Participants have been divided into ten teams of 20 players. The training will address the four key areas of Rigor, Reproducibility, and Transparency emphasized by the NIH: rigor of prior research, authentication of key biologic resources and chemical reagents, relevant biologic variables and scientific rigor. All members of the first team to successfully complete the game will win $50 gift cards to Piece of Cake. The teams span an impressive number of different universities and institutions:
