Who should complete this course?

Are you a Principal Investigator (PI) applying for a Controlled Substance Use Authorization (CSUA) Number? Are you using controlled substances in research, teaching, or veterinary care at UAB? If yes to either of these questions, you are required to complete this training course. If any regulations change, the training is required to be repeated.

This course provides information on the classification and management of controlled substances, DEA regulations, and preparing for a Controlled Substance Use Authorization (CSUA) Review. A copy of the completed training certificate must be maintained in the laboratory files and presented to the proper authorities upon request.

At the conclusion, participants should be able to:

  2. Apply rules and guidelines to stay compliant with DEA regulations.
  3. Dilute, dispense, and dispose of controlled substances.
  4. Report spills and losses of controlled substances.
