The Office of Biomedical Programs (OBP) provides leadership and administrative oversight for a diverse portfolio of undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs that advance the educational and research missions of the Heersink School of Medicine.
Working collaboratively with departments across the Heersink School of Medicine, the College of Arts and Sciences, and other UAB schools, the office oversees academic program development, curriculum management, accreditation activities, student research training, academic policy implementation, and strategic educational planning.
OBP supports five interdisciplinary undergraduate biomedical degree programs and a growing portfolio of master's and certificate programs spanning fields such as neuroscience, genetics, immunology, cancer biology, bioinformatics, global health, healthcare innovation, and artificial intelligence in medicine. Through academic advising, research preparation, workforce development initiatives, and health professions exploration programs, OBP serves as an important pathway for students pursuing careers in medicine, biomedical research, and health-related professions.
