The Blazer Express began campuswide operations Jan. 6. A detailed map of the routes, a list of frequently asked questions and other information can be found at www.uab.edu/blazerexpress.

Riders can visit Transloc to view the buses movement on their desktop or download the Transloc app for Android or iPhone — and select UAB from the dropdown menu. As the new system is launched, Transloc's information will be constantly updated.

“The Transloc website and its companion apps give our passengers a simple tool that enables them to follow the buses on their routes in real time,” said André Davis, director of Parking & Transportation services.

Users can click or touch the stops along the routes and get the approximate arrival time of the next two buses coming to the stop. “This software enables passengers to control their own wait times,” Davis said.

Transloc has pioneered the mobile web and was the first to enable mobile phones  — before smartphones — to show real-time text and graphics.

Each bus is handicap-accessible, seats 30 to 35 riders and accommodates 12 to 15 standing passengers. Collectively, the fleet is able to transport as many as 200 people at one time, substantially more than the 30 people that the six Campus Ride vans could seat.
