Toni R. Leeth has been appointed assistant dean for Strategic Planning in the School of Medicine, a new position created to help keep UAB Medicine moving forward in its vision of being the preferred academic medical center of the 21st century.

The UAB Callahan Eye Hospital, which opened in 1963 as the Eye Foundation Hospital, is home to the nation’s first Level 1 trauma center and Alabama's only 24-hour, seven-day-a-week, eye-emergency center.

Provost Linda Lucas, Ph.D., has approved the UAB Online Academic Advisory Council's unanimous recommendation to adopt Canvas by Instructure as the enterprisewide learning management system for UAB, replacing Blackboard Learn. The transition will occur from Jan. 1 to July 31; Blackboard Learn will no longer be available after Sept. 30.

 

OSHA revised the Hazard Communication standard in 2012 to improve employee recognition and understanding of chemical hazards in the workplace. Employees have until Dec. 1 to complete training to comply with the new requirements. The training is required for all lab personnel and is recommended for everyone. Register online.
