Registration for CITI Refresher IRB Training Course
YOU must SELECT the appropriate course from the CITI Curriculum!
- To access CITI, see the link at the bottom of the page.
- In the upper right corner, click Register:

- Select University of Alabama, Birmingham (note the comma between Alabama and Birmingham) in the first option.

- Check the boxes to agree to the Terms of Service and affirm your affiliation. Click “Continue to Create Your CITI Program Username/Password.”

- If you are a Children’s of Alabama employee, use your Children’s employee email address as your CITI email address.
- Once you have completed CITI registration, you will be routed to the Main Menu/My Courses. Click University of Alabama, Birmingham Courses:

- Under My Learner Tools for the University of Alabama, Birmingham, click Add a Course:

- Under point 1, select one of the IRB 2018 refresher courses:

- At the bottom of the page, click Submit. The selected course will appear as a course option on the Main Menu. Click on the name of the course to begin.

- After completing the course, the Office of the IRB will be automatically notified.

UAB Students/Employees:
To enroll in an IACUC training course in the UAB Campus Learning System:
- Log in the Campus Learning System
- You can register for training courses using one of these ways:
- By typing the Course ID or Course Name in the Search Bar at the top of your Home Page.
- By clicking on the hamburger menu (in the upper left-hand corner). Selecting the Research/Regulatory/Compliance Page.
- By clicking the See Content button within the green Research/Regulatory/Compliance box.
All assessments must be passed with a score of 80% to complete a course. On occasion, if the system is not working correctly, the IACUC may request a copy of your training certificate as proof of training. Certificates should display when you complete the course or can be accessed from your transcript. If you have taken multiple courses, you may print or “print screen” a copy of your transcript for proof of training.

UAB Campus Learning System
The UAB Campus Learning System a training management system used by employees at UAB for all IACUC training requirements.

IACUC Training Course Requirements for All Animal Users
- Using Animals for Teaching, Testing, and Research - everyone working with animals and/or listed on an IACUC protocol must complete this course. There are 3 modules and 3 quizzes in this course.
- Species Training - you must complete each training course for every species with which you will be working. These courses have 1 module and 1 quiz per course.
- Occupational Medicine Enrollment - everyone working with animals and/or listed on an IACUC protocol must enroll in the Occupational Medicine Program. The instructions, eligibility requirements and the enrollment form can be found on the EHS Occupational Medicine website.
- Rodent Surgery Training - if you will be performing either survival or nonsurvival surgery in rats or mice you must complete this course. There are 3 modules and 2 quizzes in this course.
