Internships Abroad
Summer Global Health Internships have connected UAB students to partner organizations in Jamaica, Kenya, Uganda, Panama & Nepal for elite educational experiences. Internships come with a travel stipend to cover airfare and some living expenses.

Travel Scholarships
The School of Public Health Global Health Foreign Travel Award is offered by the Sparkman Center & the SOPH's Dean's Office to support international educational experiences for SOPH students such as attending an extracurricular academic/professional conference, training activity, or internship/practicum related to Global Health.

They are accepted on a rolling basis.

Moses Sinkala Travel
The Moses Sinkala Travel Scholarship supports UAB students from any discipline who completing an international global health internship or research opportunity. Applications typically open in January.

Pilot Project Grant Funding
Pilot Project Grant Funding provide funding for internal UAB pilot grant applications that propose research projects, public health practice, and global health & development projects that support the Sparkman Center’s mission of promoting global health.

The 2022 Application Cycle is now open. Deadline for concept proposals is February 15, 2022.

Conference Funding
The Sparkman Center regularly offers support for students attending Global Health Conferences, like those organized by the Consortium of Universities of Global Health and the yearly Unite for Sight Global Health & Innovation Conference.

We are currently not accepting applications for student conferences. Check back to see when this opportunity opens again.
Coverdell Fellowship for RPCVs
The Coverdell Fellows programsupports Returned Peace Corps Volunteers entering into the MPH program at UAB on campus that focus on different aspects of global health. The application for the 2020-2021 academic year has closed.

Moses Sinkala Zambia
The Moses Sinkala Endowed Zambian Scholarship provides financial assistance to University of Zambia post-graduate students from medicine, nursing, health services, or similar areas of study who demonstrate an interest in serving the public health needs of Zambia
