The 2019 Statewide Global Health Case Competition took place on Saturday, March 2nd, 2019. Ten teams of students representing six universities presented to panels of judges with their recommendations and plans for addressing indigenous child health outcomes in the face of development and deforestation in the Amazon rainforest of Peru. The top three teams were then tasked with editing their strategy to incorporate a budget increase and present again to the full panel of judges. From there, the first, second and third place positions were awarded.
All who attended were astounded by the creativity, ingenuity and planning that students put together in their presentations. The 3rd annual Statewide Global Health Case Competition was a success thanks to the students who participated, univeristy professors and staff who made it happen, UAB professors who served as mentors for all the statewide teams, and the panel of judges representing various universities as well as community groups. Thanks to all who took part! We hope to see you again next year.
