“365 Recruitment” model

  • Fraternities are allowed to extend membership at any time of year, except for specific dead periods assigned by IFC. These dead periods are typically school breaks (summer & winter), and immediately after IFC Bid Day for about 48 hours.
  • Once the IFC-coordinated recruitment events end, events and processes are coordinated through each fraternity.
  • Most fraternities have a fall and spring new member class.
  • All recruitment events are alcohol and drug-free.
  • Participation in UAB Interfraternity Council Recruitment does not guarantee invitation into a fraternity.

FAQs

What are the fraternity housing options?

UAB does not currently have fraternity housing as an option on campus. Many members will choose to live together in off-campus apartments or houses.

Are there accommodations for students with disabilities?

Yes, if you need accommodations for the recruitment process, please email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

What are the fees and costs related to recruitment and membership?

Fraternity membership costs vary by chapter, but a range is $600-1400 per year. Don't be afraid to ask fraternities about their costs and what is included and required. Some fees, like initiation fees, insurance, and pins, will not be optional.
