Welcome Back to Campus Recreation Center
For the past two weeks, The Campus Recreation Center proudly had the opportunity to showcase UAB as an institution and Birmingham as a city during The World Games with our participation in the Racquetball and Squash events. Due to the hosting of The World Games, the Recreation Center has been closed since July 2, 2022. The Campus Recreation Center will officially be reopening tomorrow, July 20, 2022. Our team is excited to be serving you again!Please note that on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, through Friday, July 22, 2022, some areas within the Campus Recreation Center will still be off limits for the continued breakdown of The World Games, which includes but is not limited to the following areas: Gymnasium (Courts), Center Court, Game Room area, Racquetball and Squash Courts, Studio V, Adventure Recreation Rental Center (and its operations), and the main hallway starting from Gymnasium leading to the back of the facility, see map for a reference. We know that our closure has impacted your ability to work on your health, wellness, and fitness. As previously mentioned in an email sent on Monday, June 13, 2022, we will be freezing membership billing for the month of July as well as the month of August. This is our way of thanking you for remaining loyal to us since this closure had prevented your ability to pursue your wellness goals.
Listed below are the scenarios that we are taking based on the multiple ways our members pay for their membership and other services. Please review the grid below, outlining the approach we will take regarding your membership, locker, program passes, etc.

| Memberships paid monthly | July and August’s billing will be suspended. URec will restart billing in September 2022. |
| Lockers | Locker expiration dates will be extended by 1 month. However, lockers need not be cleaned out as locker service will not be utilized by The World Games. As always, ensure your belongings are secured and items left in lockers are done so at your personal responsibility. |
| F45 – Summer Unlimited Pass | Summer F45 Unlimited Pass is discounted and includes the months (April, May, June, July, and the beginning of August) |
| F45 – Monthly Unlimited Pass | Since April 1, 2022, members have had the opportunity to purchase F45 unlimited passes on a monthly basis. Monthly F45 passes that will overlap with the facility closure will be extended by the number of the days Campus Recreation Center remains closed. |
| F45 – 1, 5, 10, 25 Pass | Expiration dates will be extended by the number of days Campus Recreation Center remains closed. |
| Personal Training | Expiration dates will be extended by the number of days Campus Recreation Center remains closed. |
| Massage Therapy | Expiration dates will be extended by the number of days Campus Recreation Center remains closed. |

COVID-19 Modifications
UAB University Recreation has implemented a modified operational plan within its facilities, programs and services in a way that puts the health and safety of our staff and members as the main focus. This includes modification to our hours of operations, extensive cleaning protocols, facility spaces, and enhanced and updated policies and procedures.
Please be sure to read and familiarize yourself with the UAB University Recreation’s COVID-19 Modified Operations plan, below, in its entirety. It provides important information and explains the changes and updates in our policies and procedures in response to COVID-19.
All policies and procedures will be strictly enforced. The URec team is committed to providing you with quality and inclusive spaces and programs while minimizing the risk of exposure.
In order for our team to safely serve everyone, we ask YOU to follow the all University Recreation’s Policies and Procedures while in the facility. Only TOGETHER we can reduce the spread of COVID-19 and remain open. The UAB URec’s COVID-19 Modified Operations plan follows the University of Alabama System Safety Protocols, takes into account CDC recommendations, and complies with state and local guidelines and recommendations.
Due to the nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, rules and regulations are constantly changing. We recommend that you continue to monitor the UAB University Recreation COVID-19 Modified Operations plan daily for updates.

Modified Operations
Mask Policy
Thank you for keeping the UAB community safe. In alighnment with UAB's updated Masking Policy effective at 4 p.m. March 4, 2022, UAB University Recreation no longer requires masks to be worn at the Campus Recreation Center.
Individuals are still required to wear a mask in accordance with CDC guidance, including:
- Following an isolation period after a positive test (i.e., wear a mask for five days when around people following the isolation period)
- After an unvaccinated person’s close-contact exposure to a COVID-positive individual (i.e., wear a mask for five days following the exposure)
Masks and social distancing are required for patients in the Athletic Training Room in accordance with UAB Student Health and UAB Medicine standards.
