URec FitWell Team offers you everything you need to accomplish your fitness and wellness goals at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. With In-Person and Virtual UFit Group Exercise classes, we are ready to meet your recreational, fitness and wellness goals, physically from the heart of the UAB Campus, or online, from anywhere in the world.We’re sure we have a class that fits you!
For your safety, we've implemented the following to our In-Person UFit Policies and Procedures, in response to COVID-19:
- Increased cleaning and sanitation between classes
- Require Pre-Registration
- Set maxim capacity for each class
- Established Activity Spaces to allow for proper social distancing measures

In-Person UFit
In-Person UFit Group Exercise classes are held in the Fitness Studios on the 3rd floor of the Campus Recreation Center. These FREE classes are open to all UAB URec members. Pre-Registration is required to attend each class.

How to Pre-Register:
Using the online system:
- Sign in to our Online Portal. Please note that you will need to use your UAB URec credentials –NOT YOUR BLAZER ID. If you need to create credentials please contact Membership Team at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 205-934-8224
- Once you are logged in click “UFit & F45"
- Find the class you want to attend and click on it
- A pop-up menu with information about the class will appear
- Click “Enroll”

Note: Participating in any of the F45 classes will require purchasing F45 passes. You can purchase the F45 passes in person at the Membership Desk, over the phone by calling 205-996-5038, in our mobile app, or directly on the Online Portal
- Choose the name of the member (you) who is reserving the spot for the Class
- Click “Register"
- A “Thank You" message will appear to confirm the booking
Note: You can view your reservations by visiting the “Member Information" section on the home page and choosing “Account Summary".Scroll down to the “Current Reservations" section to view bookings.To cancel click specific reservations and then choose “Cancel Booking".
Using the app:
- Download The UAB Campus Recreation App
- Log in using your credentials (different from Blazer ID login) If you need to create credentials please contact Membership Team at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.or 205-934-8224
- Choose “Classes" on the bottom of the screen
- Choose the day on the top of the screen and tap the class that you are interested in joining
- Tap “Book”
- Choose the name of the member (you) who is reserving the spot in the Class and tap “Next”
- A “Thank You" message will appear to confirm the booking.You will also be able to add this booking to your calendar.
- Note: Participating in any of the F45 classes will require purchasing F45 passes. You can purchase the F45 passes in person at the Membership Desk, over the phone by calling 205-996-5038, in our mobile app,or directly on the Online Portal
Note: You can view your reservation on the home page of the app by choosing the different days from the calendar list towards the top of the screen.To cancel, click the reservation in this calendar view and choose “cancel".

Les Mills
At home workouts! You have access to over 100 FREE workouts during the COVID-19 situation. There are 10 workout categories varying from High-Intensity Interval Training to classes focused on mindfulness.

Power Yoga

Yoga Flow

Fit Barre
Fit Barre will offer you a full class of motivating music and toning technique. Fine tune your smallest muscles with small continuous contractions and feel your body’s true form take shape.
Barre Core
This class takes your favorite parts of Fit Barre to create a core shredding workout!
Barre Less
Ready to get off the barre? This ballet-based workout will challenge your whole body; focusing on alignment, lengthening, balance, functional movement, and core strength.
Barre Intensity
Barre Intensity fuses traditional Barre class with strength movements at a HIIT pace creating an explosive cardio workout.

Power Cycle
The highest intensity cycle class that will push you every week in order to maximize optimal calorie burn. Powerful movements and transitions will be incorporated in this ultimate low-impact workout.
Pump & Pedal
Can’t decide if you want to do cardio or strength? Why not do both! This class is formatted to work both your cardiovascular endurance while cycling as well as strength components.
Cycle Something Different
Experience a unique variety of intervals, guided imagery, and heart pounding fun from the cyclist’s perspective.
West Coast Cycling
Combine deep meditation and goal setting with indoor cycling.

Dance your way to a fitter you! This class combines Latin rhythms with cardiovascular exercise to create an aerobic routine that is fun and easy to follow. Come have fun while getting fit!
Hip-Hop
Hip-Hop is the ideal class anybody looking to tone muscle, increase cardio endurance, and burn calories, all while indulging in a fun filled hip-hop dance moves!
STRONG by Zumba
This class will combine high intensity intervals with music for a fun and motivating workout! Syncing your workout with music will help you push beyond where you thought that you could ever go!
Country Heat
Country dance inspired workout using simple dance moves and uncomplicated choreography to country inspired jams. This is a non-stop cardio workout that is so fun you will forget you are working out!

Pound Fitness is a ROCKOUT WORKOUT! Channel your inner performer and rock your body with this modern-day fusion of movement and music. Using RipstixTM (weighted drumsticks engineered for exercise) Pound transforms drumming into an effective full-body workout. SPACE IS LIMITED! (Max. 25)
Cardio Kickboxing
Looking to combine a strength and cardio workout in one? This morning interval class utilizes cardio and kickboxing segments to provide an action packed total body workout!
Step, Jump & Pump
This tried and true fitness staple uses basic to advanced step moves to challenge all fitness levels. Incorporating strength and sports-conditioning this fun twist on an old staple is sure to provide you with the advanced and dynamic workout you’ve been looking for.
TRX Strength and Core
Learn the basics of this rapidly growing fitness trend, TRX! Along with great TRX instruction, the class will include training that involves full body movements and learn to stabilize the body and use your core in every exercise.
Insanity
Intense interval training to improve strength, endurance, agility, and coordination all using just your body weight for a great and fun workout! This can be modified for any fitness level!
CUT
This class will focus strictly on working your core leaving your abs cut up.
Chaireobics
Get a satisfying strength workout while stepping outside the box of the normal class! This unique structure is based upon fitness and dance theories including ballet barre, Pilates, and yoga. You will dance, you will have fun, and you will sweat!
Step Jam
Come see why step has been around for more than 25 years! This cardio workout builds a base choreography pattern using the step and gives you options to ‘jam’ by adding challenges with power, directional, and rhythmic changes; ending with a brief core segment and relaxing floor stretch.
Kettlebell Strength
This high intensity class consists of whole-body movement exercises. Kettlebells come in a range of off-centered weights and a workout includes different movements such as the deadlift, swing, clean & press, and snatch.
PiYo
This is a high intensity, fast paced, low impact workout that is a fusion or yoga and Pilates. You will sweat during this great workout!
Core De Force
An MMA style workout tracking moves and inspiration from boxing, kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Muay Thai that uses HIIT. This is body weight training that is not a self-defense class and non-contact.
Kickbox Bootcamp
This cardio/strength workout alternates intervals of cardio kickboxing ‘rounds’ with total body strength training, ending with a core segment and relaxing floor stretch.

Aqua classes are suitable for all fitness levels and swimming abilities.
Aqua Fit
A great ‘wave’ to get a great low impact cardio workout in! This easy-to-follow class will give you a fun, exciting, and new workout!
Aqua Zumba
This class combines Zumba with the resistance of the water for a fun pool party workout!
*These 45 minute classes are suitable for all fitness levels and swimming abilities.
